The Brooklyn Nets made headlines with their decision to fire head coach, Steve Nash. After just two seasons with the franchise, Nash picked up the majority of the blame. Moreover, the superstars, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant lost their confidence in the two-time MVP. Likewise, the Nets had to find a replacement for the Hall of Famer. And the name lingering for the job was Boston Celtics’ former head coach, Ime Udoka.

In his debut as the head coach for the Celtics, Udoka rose as one of the finest. He completely changed the young Boston side to become defensive giants. The 45-year-old led them all the way to the NBA Finals where they fell short by just two games. A bright partnership looked destined to come. However, a major bump arose. Udoka violated team policies which led him to be suspended for an entire season.

He could no more be associated with the Boston Celtics. However, there was nothing about other teams knocking on the doors. And Nash’s firing directly linked them to Udoka. However, a major controversy erupted with the Nets’ initial choice for the replacement. And it seems they didn’t want any more trouble. Hence, they appointed Jacque Vaughn as the new head coach instead.

Brooklyn Nets abandon plans for Ime Udoka

Vaughn has been with the Nets for the past six seasons. Observing every stage of Brooklyn, he is arguably well equipt with the system. He served as the assistant coach since 2016. When Nash was fired, he assumed the role of the interim head coach. Now, the Nets announced their decision to make the change permanent. Notably, Vaughn was appointed as the full-time head coach abandoning any plans to chase after Udoka.

Despite the importance, coaching perhaps remains the least of their troubles. Notably, Kyrie Irving took the top spot on the list of troubles for the Brooklyn Nets. His questionable actions and unsatisfactory apology divided the NBA world. To show their stand against antisemitism, they suspended the seven-time All-Star until he satisfies a list of?conditions.

The Nets might have dealt with one of their worries, but the big picture is yet to begin. With Irving’s future hanging in uncertainty, Brooklyn might have to reload on their firepower besides Kevin Durant.
