On The Old Man and the Three podcast, Luke Doncic penned down a comparison between the NBA and the EuroLeague. He revealed that players in the NBA are tough to defend. However, Doncic claimed that “NBA’s 100% easier” to make plays and bag points. Doncic’s justification was that in the EuroLeague, the rules and demands of the game are different. He claimed that the Euroleague is more intense because “it’s more team basketball, it’s more tactics”, without the luxury of time. Luka’s sentiments were echoed by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic.

Giannis Antetokounmpo revealed that one of the reasons he participates in the EuroLeague is because it helps him prepare for the NBA. The game, according to him, is different on the other side of the world. He claimed that the space, “it’s just different like you have a lot of lanes to drive the ball and create” leading to more physical play and quick thinking. Quick thinking is an aspect of the EuroLeague that Jokic spoke about as well. While stating that the game is much tougher in Europe, the league demands players to excel in Basketball IQ. It is fair for Doncic and the other two to compare the leagues because they play at the highest level in both. Following this, NBA Fans took to Twitter to react to the comments of the stars of the NBA.

NBA’s 2023 first draft pick is rumored to be Victor Wembanyama, a star from France. Having spent his life in Europe, Wembanyama’s game is highly influenced by the tough culture of the EuroLeague. With this in mind, fans were certain that Wembanyama would cause chaos in the NBA. Another reason for fans to be confident with their prediction is that they have seen the three NBA Stars rip the league apart with their performances.

Some fans defended the NBA in their comments. They claimed that while EuroLeague may be tougher, they lack heavily in terms of talent. They also stated that it is tougher to be a winning champion in the Euroleague. Many also wrote that Luka and co are better players only because of the NBA and not the EuroLeague.
