Then there’s Kyrie Irving’s recent major controversy, which brought global criticism to both the franchise and Irving. Furthermore, Ben Simmons, a first-round draft pick in 2016 by the 76ers, has failed to perform.

Since the absence of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant has arguably done the bulk of the scoring and tried to contribute much to the team. Furthermore, Ben Simmons was dropped from the starting lineup in recent games.
Coming off the bench, fans expect players to go into full attack mode and earn points for the team. But in the Nets’ case, Ben Simmons was coming off the bench and the NBA world felt like he was scared to score. And the stats speak for themselves, so far this season, Simmons has averaged 5.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists so far this season.
