Motivation can take a player to a whole new level. One major motivating factor is trash talk. Fans have the opportunity to sit courtside during NBA games. While there are strict rules for them, some passionate fans talk smack. Spike Lee and Kevin Hart are some of the prime examples. In the case of Hart, that went terribly wrong when he tried to do it with James Harden.

Harden is one of the most skilled scorers in the league. Not only can he put up impressive numbers, but he can make tough shots. In his time with the Rockets, the ‘Beard’ even put up numbers that were on course to rival Wilt Chamberlain. Hence, talking trash to him wouldn’t have been a good idea.

Recently, Kevin Hart made an appearance on the All The Smoke podcast. He revealed how trash-talking Harden backfired for him and his team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

James Harden teaches Hart a lesson

Kevin Hart is an avid sports fan. He enjoys sports such as basketball and football. Like any other fan, he supports his hometown team. In 2017, he sat courtside for a game against Houston Rockets. Hart then decided to trash talk Rockets’ best player, James Harden, and he made him pay right away.

Harden dropped 51 points in that game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Moreover, he dished out 13 assists and grabbed 13 rebounds as well. Recalling that incident, Hart said:

“I s**t talk, I s**t talk. By the way, none of them went well. None of them went in my favor. Uh, Harden in Philly. Harden gave me 50 he didn’t he didn’t give the sixers 50. He gave me 50 and said to me directly, ‘I’ma give you f**king 50 cause you won’t shut up.”

The following season, Harden even won his first regular-season MVP.
