The NBA has seen a lot of promising careers come to an end after various unfortunate incidents. Injuries are one of the most common reasons, however, off-the-court incidents and controversies have also led to the end of many careers. Golden State Warriors star, Draymond Green, was involved in a major controversy when he had a physical altercation with teammate Jordan Poole. Fortunately for Green, the Warriors stood firm with him and Poole was ready to work it out.
But not everyone gets a second chance, especially when guns are involved. Former All-Star Gilbert Arenas recently opened up about his ‘gun incident’ with Draymond Green.

Gilbert Arenas recently joined Draymond Green in The Draymond Green Show for The Volume. During the podcast, the two discussed a variety of interesting things. In one instance, Arenas opened up about the end of his career. The three-time NBA All-Star first talked about injury issues. Arenas noted that it proved to be the beginning of the end of his career. He added that despite his injury issues, the late Wizards owner, Abe Pollin was ready to offer whatever Arenas wanted. But that was not the case when Pollin passed away in 2009. This put Arenas’ future with the Wizards in doubt.
A month after Pollin’s death, things took a shocking turn when Arenas brought unloaded guns to the locker room and dared teammate Javaris Crittenton to shoot him after an argument. He talked about this during the show and noted that he was judged for the one mistake he made and everything good he did was forgotten. Arenas said, “Going through that situation with Javaris, it was real shocking because my whole thing was like, man you can do a hundred things right, you make one mistake, it erases your whole legacy.” He added, “It’s like I was batting 100%, I missed one shot, I’m the sorriest mothe***cker on the planet.”

The 2003 Most Improved Player noted that he lost his love after that and could not sleep. However, he noted that he understands the Wizards’ decision to let him go because it is business and added he would have done the same thing.

Gilbert Arenas was one of the best offensive players during his time and averaged close to 30 points for two straight seasons. However, injuries and surgeries slowed him down and he was not the same player ever again. Then the gun incident made things worse.
Arenas dared Javaris Crittenton to shoot him because of an argument after a $1,100 bet in a card game between Crittenton and JaVale McGee. During the argument, Crittenton allegedly threatened him. So The Washington Wizards legend brought unloaded guns as a prank to prove Crittenton’s bluff.
