NBA legend Dennis Rodman has been a part of some of the best teams ever. And he has been a huge part of the teams’ success as well. He was a part of the Detroit Pistons that won two straight titles in 1989 and 1990. Then he joined Chicago Bulls which won three straight titles from 1996 to 1998. However, his prime years with the San Antonio Spurs are very underrated. It was during his time with the Spurs, Rodman became “rebellious” after feeling betrayed.

Rodman came into the league with no hype as the 27th overall pick in the 1987 NBA draft. However, he soon became one of the best defensive players in the league. This went hand in hand with the way the Pistons played. They were a huge roadblock for all-time great Michael Jordan and the Bulls. The ‘Worm’ won two straight Defensive Player of the Year awards in 1990 and 1991.

Sports Illustrated once dubbed Robinson as “Saint” David Robinson because of his immense faith.

Rodman averaged 17.3 rebounds per game in his first season and 16.8 rebounds per game in his second season for the Spurs. In his second season, the Spurs made the Western Conference Finals but lost to the Houston Rockets. The Spurs felt his off-the-court antics were too much to handle and were negatively impacting the team. So they traded him to the Bulls despite not getting much in return.
