When it comes to NBA championship rings, the one coach whose fingers won’t fit all of them is Phil Jackson. The former head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls, Jackson won 11 NBA titles, the highest in NBA history. However, another Lakers legend, LeBron James, once admitted that he is not fond of coach Phil Jackson.

Jackson led the famous Chicago Bulls to two three-peats in the 90s, winning six NBA titles before helping the Los Angeles Lakers win another five titles, with three incredibly coming in another three-peat from 2000 to 2002.

The tussle between LeBron James and Phil Jackson

In an interview, James said, “I’m not a fan of Phil Jackson.”?The reason is clear because in the past we’ve seen Jackson criticizing James. When LeBron was a rising star for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Phil had some harsh comments for LeBron,?saying, “You can’t hold up the whole team because you and your mom and your posse want to spend an extra night in Cleveland. … I do know LeBron likes special treatment.”?

James later responded to the comment and said,?“Didn’t affect me, just know how much further we still have to go and how far we still have to go as African-Americans, even in the light of today.” To further ignite the beef between them, LeBron James once said, “I had nothing but respect for him as a coach ...”

Jackson believes the Lakers should trade LeBron James, arguably their finest player. For?Los Angeles Lakers fans, the former coach’s comments may seem outlandish, considering James helped bring the Lakers title number 17 in 2020.

According to Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times, the former Lakers head coach Phil Jackson wants LeBron James traded from the team. ?I?ve heard that Phil would like LeBron traded,? said Plaschke. ?I?ve just heard that.?
