Shaquille O’Neal is a nice guy, well that’s how he wants to be remembered. He doesn’t care about his legacy as a basketball player or the amount of money he has. In the show, the audience asked O’Neal 18 questions. The questions revolved around the topics of business, greatness, success, and kindness. O’Neal was open and transparent with his answers. Additionally, he also narrated a few anecdotes about his career while providing the audience with lessons in business and life.

A member of the audience asked Shaq how he became who he is today. The question was not related to money or fame. Rather it hinted at O’Neal’s big philanthropic heart. O’Neal’s reply was simple.

Shaquille O’Neal stated he realized he was simply lucky that he got paid well. Once this realization donned upon him, helping people came very naturally to him because of the way he was raised.

Shaq then went on to talk about his favorite store, Best Buy, and his secret habit. He then revealed how he helped a mother fulfill her son’s wish. He said, “I am always looking for the moms. Moms and the kids.” At Best Buy, O’Neal stated that he waits for mothers to ask the price of any item.

He added, “I just wait for them to price check. ‘How much?’ ‘$1500.’ ‘No, how much is this one?’ Now I know I got one. So I talk to the kid be like, ‘Go ask your mom can you take a computer from a stranger.'”

Following this, he proceeds to buy the item for the family. O’Neal doesn’t plan his offers out, it just comes naturally to him because it’s the right thing to do. He repeatedly stated that he can do this because luck has been on his side.

The follow-up question to O’Neal’s answer was, “Is that pretty natural to you, that feeling of being lucky and blessed?” The former MVP stated that he is familiar with this feeling because he has had the best of both worlds.

O’Neal has been in a world where people called him trash and hopeless. He has also been in a world where people have worshipped him. He stated he has had to relentlessly work hard to get through the rough patches and make it to the top.
