During the free agency in 2004 one of the biggest trade decisions within the NBA was made. Shaquille O’Neal, a three-time NBA winner with the Los Angeles Lakers, was traded to the Miami Heat. This came after an ongoing feud between him and the Lakers ownership regarding his pay, further ignited by his verbal confrontations with Kobe Bryant.
Regardless of the nature of his departure Shaq soon found an ideal partner in Dwyane Wade, forming a partnership that won him his fourth ring in 2006. Shaq and Wade have since then become close friends. ‘The Flash’ recently spoke on his close relations with Shaq and how they ended up having the time of their lives.

During a recent appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast D Wade spoke on his recent dealings with Shaq. Questioning Wade on Shaq’s recent appearance on his gameshow, The Cube, Shannon asked, “What was Shaq like? Because you know Shaq think he could do everything,” to which Wade shared a hilarious story.
Speaking on Shaq’s appearance, Wade responded, “Shaq bust the cube open! He fell through the back of the cube! I didn’t even know you could do that.“ Continuing to talk about it, the former NBA MVP said, “He showed up and he’s like, ‘Man, Flash, what am I doing? I’m like just enjoy it.’ And then like he didn’t want to stop he kept asking for more tries.” When told that he couldn’t keep getting chances Shaq replied, “I’ll buy another life.”
The former teammates had quite the time on the game show which is an adaptation of its English counterpart. Released in 2021, the game show hosts a pair of contestants who are confined within a cube and are given 9 lives. The pair must then find a way to do endurance-based tasks while confined using their mind and attitude to win a cash prize.
The Shaq-Wade duo never disappoints
Wade, similar to Shaq, has ventured into various other aspects of life since retiring. The Cube offered an opportunity to see the duo share a platform once again to which they didn’t disappoint. Recalling that particular episode Wade replied, “Shaq was Shaq, he brought a lot of excitement too, he broke a lot of our games too.”
