WNBA stars Brittney Griner is now married to Cherelle Griner. Before this, Griner was married to another WNBA star, Glory Johnson. But the marriage did not work out the way that they had imagined. Even before they married, there was a domestic violence incident that rocked the relationship. It was after they were engaged in 2014. However, the two decided to go with the wedding as they had initially planned. But not everyone gave their approval for the marriage.

Glory Johnson once revealed that some of her family members were against her decision of marrying the towering center. However, the Dallas Wings star did not listen to their advice. “It wasn’t about other people. It was about us,” Johnson said. She added that Griner was crying about how happy she was with Johnson, deciding to marry her.

After they were engaged, the couple was arrested for domestic violence and both had minor injuries. They were put in the same cell. The power forward said that she was angry that the police had put them in the same cell. Johnson also said that she was mad because she was arrested due to Griner. And Johnson’s sisters witnessed the fight between the lovers. So unsurprisingly, some of her family members were against the marriage.

Johnson also said that her spouse promised that she would make her decision to stick with her worth it. But things went from bad to worse. One month after their marriage, the couple announced that Johnson is pregnant through IVF. But Griner shocked everyone by appealing for an annulment the very next day.

The towering center claimed that she was not involved in the IVF procedure. She also claimed that she was pressured into marrying Johnson. But Johnson had proof of Griner being involved with the IVF procedure and picking the sperm donor. So Griner then revised her appeal and admitted that she was involved in the procedure. However, her appeal was declined.

So the couple had no other option other than a divorce. Finally, the WNBA stars got divorced in June 2016. Johnson gave birth to 2 girls, 16 weeks premature. She sat out the 2015 WNBA season on maternity leave. Since 2021, she has been playing for the Turkish team Be?ikta?.
