Cookie Johnson shared an instance when Magic Johnson had doubts about marrying her after proposing. She shared how she felt after finally receiving a proposal from the 12-time All-Star. The 63-year-old shared that the proposal came out of nowhere as he had doubts about the commitment. However, the Los Angeles Lakers legend eventually proposed to Cookie Johnson.

Cookie revealed that she was extremely excited about the prospect of getting married to the love of her life. However, her excitement soon turned into disappointment when Magic Johnson shared his doubts about getting married.

Johnson confessed to Cookie that he could not do it and wanted to break off the engagement. At that moment, Cookie Johnson thought, “Well you know, after all we’ve been through that’s not… I can’t do that. So, if you’re gonna break the engagement, we’re breaking up.”

Magic Johnson’s fears about the commitment made Cookie Johnson feel that they should separate. But despite their differences, the duo got married in 1991.

The couple welcomed their first kid EJ Johnson in 1992. They also adopted their daughter Elisa Johnson in 1995. Magic and Cookie separated briefly in 2001, but eventually got back together after a while.
