Becky Hammon is one of the all-time greats in the Women’s National Basketball Association. She is currently the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA. Before this, she was the first full-time female assistant coach in any of the four major professional sports in North America. She was the full-time assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs. During a game in 2020, she became the first female acting head coach in NBA history. After Spurs’ head coach Gregg Popovich was ejected during a game against the Lakers.

Becky also played for the Aces as a player. During that time, the team was based in San Antonio.
Becky Hammon is born and brought up in the United States. In 2008, she became a naturalized citizen of the Russia. Becky represented Russia in two Olympics in 2008 and 2012. She won the bronze medal with the Russian women’s Basketball team in Beijing in 2008. Recently, she talked about Brittney Griner’s case and called out the gender bias involved.

Hammon said, “It’s something that obviously hits super close to home for me and so I just ask the Russian government to do the right thing. It’s never too late to do the right thing….We’re asking for leniency. We’re asking for grace. And we’re asking to bring home BG.”
Brittney will be appearing in court on Tuesday for closing arguments in her trial. Hammon also said, ” It’s hard to imagine, though, that if this was, you know, LeBron James, that he’d still be sitting over there in jail..It’s hard not to let your mind go there.”
