One of the all-time great basketball players, Michael Jordan, passed on his unmatched determination and championship-winning mentality to the world of team ownership. At least he tried to. His stint as the Charlotte Hornets‘ majority owner can only be described as a string of letdowns and squandered chances. He has been criticized for his skills as an owner even by his close friends, such as Charles Barkley. And it seems like the criticism finally got to his thick skin as he recently sold the Hornets!

Michael Jordan sold the Charlotte Hornets!

Jordan’s association with the Charlotte Hornets began in 2006. Jordan took up the stint as an owner because he loved the game and wanted to give back to the NBA after his playing days got over.?However, it was only in 2010 that he became the majority owner of the franchise, taking control of the team. As a result, the team changed its name to the Charlotte Hornets from the Charlotte Bobcats.

Most recently, the Hornets were in an advantageous position with the NBA Draft approaching soon. With five draft picks, all in the top 41, the team had a fantastic chance to add much-needed youth and talent to their squad under Jordan’s ownership.

The Charlotte Hornets have struggled for the past thirteen years to accomplish their primary objective of winning. They presently hold the fifth-lowest winning percentage among NBA teams. The Hornets made the playoffs in 2014 and 2016. However, they were eliminated in the first round both times. Despite promises of improvement from the front office to owner Michael Jordan, the team hasn’t even made it to the playoffs since 2016. Jordan has owned the team for 13 years, but in none of those years has he placed higher than sixth or won a playoff series. Jordan clearly got tired.

Monk received a technical foul from the watchful officials for entering the floor too quickly. In response to the event, the legendary Michael Jordan, who was known for his high standards, gave Monk a smack to the head and described it as a “tap of endearment.”?
