Boston won game four and five, disrupting Miami’s momentum. Apart from the hot debate who’s gonna qualify for the NBA Finals, there’s also been a question looming whose main man is better, Miami’s Jimmy Butler or Boston’s Jayson Tatum.

Jimmy Butler has been outstanding throughout the NBA playoffs, spearheading Miami’s victory over the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks and their dominant performance against the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum has showcased his impressive scoring skills in both the regular season and the postseason, playing a crucial role in securing wins in game four and five of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Barkley stated, “I’d choose Jimmy Butler. I know he’ll give everything he’s got. He’s tough and possesses that gritty mentality. Jayson Tatum is likely the superior player, but if I had to pick someone to go into battle with, it would be Jimmy Butler. Many players are great, but I wouldn’t want that particular guy in my corner.” He further added, “Jayson Tatum is probably a better player, but if I’m going to war, I want Jimmy Butler as my teammate.” Barkley acknowledges Tatum’s superior overall skills but believes that Butler’s exceptional work ethic makes him a more desirable teammate, according to the 1993 MVP.

Barkley’s perspective on preferring Jimmy Butler over Jayson Tatum, despite acknowledging Tatum as the better player, presents an intriguing viewpoint. It raises curiosity as to why Barkley wouldn’t choose Tatum, considering his high regard for the Celtics’ star’s basketball abilities.
