NBA fans have often lauded Kevin Durant for his consistent performances over the duration of his career. Young players have usually looked up to him as an idol and modeled their play styles after him. Durant is a key player at the Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference. Recently, an upcoming young NBA star in Trae Young revealed his idolization of Durant.
Durant and Trae Young recently engaged in an intense scuffle with each other. The contentious incident took place during an NBA game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Atlanta Hawks. Young expressed his reaction to Durant’s comments on the tussle on Twitter. He tweeted saying, “Idols become your rivals.”
This was in response to Durant’s comments about the duo’s in-game exchange. Durant had said that he has known Young since he was 10 years old and all of this is in the spirit of the game.

Durant often managed to successfully guard Young throughout the game, keeping the young Hawks star in check.

However, the dubious incident occurred when Durant collided with Young while setting up a screen. The NBA referees called Durant for a foul as the two players confronted each other. The referees had to step in once again and signaled double technical fouls on both the players.
When Young was 10 years old, Durant still played for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2011. Durant remained with the OKC Thunder for five more seasons. He left the OKC Thunder in 2016, having been named the NBA’s ‘Most Valuable Player’ in 2014. Durant joined the Golden State Warriors where he won two NBA titles in 2017 and 2018.

A controversial dispute between Nets’ Kevin Durant and the Hawks’ Trae Young occurred during the game. Their altercation remained a significant highlight of the game. Durant scored 31 points and recorded 6 assists and 5 rebounds for the Nets.
Young led the Hawks equalling Durant’s score in the game with 31 points. He additionally recorded 10 assists and seven rebounds, just three rebounds shy of a triple-double performance. Ultimately, the duo made peace at the end of the game as Durant said that it was merely in the spirit of the competition and Young said that it was all good between them.
