NBA superstar Stephen Curry is arguably the greatest shooter ever. There are many fans who even consider him one of the greatest players ever. Recently, Golden State Warriors teammate Draymond Green called Curry the “GOAT” while explaining how the Dubs superstar saved him during last season’s NBA Finals. The Warriors won their fourth title in the last eight years earlier this year, cementing themselves as a legitimate dynasty. However, Draymond Green explained in a recent podcast how the Boston Celtics crowd tested his patience amidst stressful times.

The Celtics’ TD Garden is considered to be one of the most hostile arenas in the league. During the Finals, Celtics fans allegedly crossed a lot of lines while jeering at Draymond Green. They targeted Green with their vile chants and he genuinely seemed rattled. When one of the most mentally strong players on the team looks rattled, it doesn’t do any good to his teammates. Therefore, Curry had to take matters into his own hands and take over game 4 in the Garden.
Green gives major props to ‘GOAT’ Stephen Curry
Recently, Draymond Green sat down with former Warriors sideline reporter Ros Gold-Onwude, and former baseball player Micah Johnson for a game of ‘Throwing Bones.’ During the show, they talked about a variety of topics. In one instance, Green was asked whether his feelings were hurt while playing in the TD Garden. He admitted he was “rattled” by all the name-calling and racial slurs in the arena.

Green said, “So going into game 4, down 2-1, I’m just like, ‘I just need to come in here and stabilize myself.’ Shout out to the GOAT Steph Curry because in game 4 I still wasn’t myself. But I rallied enough to be better and then he carried me.” He added, “His performance was also how I didn’t get murdered.”

The 2017 DPOY added the Warriors were losing that game but Stephen Curry made sure they did not lose. Green noted that he would have been slammed had they lost that game, “I would’ve gotten murdered.” However, thankfully Curry willed the Warriors to a much-needed win. Green also added that he was benched in that game which he felt was disrespectful. However, he stated that he did not take it personally and all he wanted was to win the title.
Curry won his first Finals MVP
The Celtics shocked many when they won game 1 of the NBA Finals because the Warriors had not lost a single home game throughout the playoffs. However, the Warriors recovered and took care of business in game 2. Then the Celtics took a crucial 2-1 lead winning game 3 in the Garden.

This put huge pressure on Stephen Curry and the Warriors. Draymond Green was not his usual self and was rattled. So Curry willed his team to the win with a masterful 43 points performance. This fired up the Warriors who then won the next two games to clinch the championship eventually. Curry won his first-ever Finals MVP award averaging 31.2 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals per game in the series.
