The colors purple and gold covered the Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday night. Fans rushed to their seats with fully charged phones and absorbed the electric atmosphere. In each corner of the court sat one celebrity or NBA legend who smiled and embraced each other with excitement. They were moments away from witnessing LeBron James’ final leg of his pursuit of surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time leading scorer in the history of the NBA. The Hall of Famer sat courtside to witness the moment that the NBA world waited for with bated breath. Amidst this excitement, Shaquille O’Neal sat in the ‘NBA on TNT’ studio to watch the historic moment unfold.

After the game, Abdul-Jabbar spoke to the panel on ‘NBA on TNT’. Furthermore, the NBA legend concluded the interview with a message for Shaq. What followed was a wholesome conversation between the two greats who have flaunted the iconic Los Angeles Lakers jersey in their time.

Back in the day, when Shaq signed with the Lakers, the LakersNation was overjoyed. In the purple and gold jersey, the Big Diesel created magic with late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant by his side. The NBA world was in shock and awe of Shaq’s craft, but Abdul-Jabbar seemingly wasn’t very impressed. He previously voiced his criticism on numerous occasions and never shied away from calling Shaq out. The two never shared a personal relationship while the basketball community believed that they were beefing.

However, on Tuesday night, the six-time NBA champion cleared the air. In a short message to Shaq, he said, “I’m on your side, Shaq, don’t let anybody tell you any differently.”  Touched by these kind words, the four-time NBA champion responded with a tone of gratitude. He said, “Listen, you not speaking to me was the best thing that happened in my career; because all I wanted to do was impress you.”

Further, Shaq added, “I will talk to you soon, Inshallah…” He continued to express his love for the “great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar” and claimed that he could never have beef with them. Following this, the two-time MVP encouraged Shaq and the rest of the crew to continue their good work. He concluded, “Keep on impressing the whole world with our game. It’s a wonderful game.”
