NBA legend Dick Vitale was a sportscaster for a mindboggling 41 years. He comes from very humble beginnings where both his parents worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. Vitale has coached almost every level possible in the country. Interestingly, he started his coaching career as an elementary basketball coach in his hometown Garfield, New Jersey. He then worked his way up the ranks with his hard work and willingness to learn to be a great student of the game. Recently, he provided a health update that captured the attention of many fans.
Now 83, Vitale is suffering from Melanoma. The former college and NBA head coach took to social media to update his fans about his health.

Dick Vitale took to Facebook to share an update about his health with the sports world. He stated that he recently had his six-month Melanoma checkup which was filled with anxiety. Vitale noted that patients with Melanoma should do periodic checkups. He added that he received a good report after the current check-up. He wrote, “I was very fortunate that yesterday I received a very good report . My next appointment is July 31 unless I notice something that comes up that needs to be examined. “

Vitale had a bit of advice for his fans as well. He recommended people get an annual examination by a dermatologist. The college basketball Hall of Famer stated that an annual examination could save the lives of many.
