“I Wasn’t Programmed to Have a Relationship”: Divorced Shaquille O’Neal Opens up on Disappointing Two Women in His Life

In a snippet of HBO Original’s new documentary, titled, ‘Shaq‘, the basketball legend revealed his reflections on his past love life. In it, Shaquille O’Neal is visibly saddened by the way he treated the women in his life. Further focusing on the two important women in his life.

Arnetta Yardbourgh and Shaunie Henderson have been widely popular for their relationship with Shaq. But both of these relationships couldn’t boast of longevity. Shaquille O’Neal, in his docuseries, opened up about these relationships.

A blunt and honest Shaquille O’Neal said, “But just being a dumbass, rich spoiled man, of course, I messed it up. I wasn’t programmed to have a relationship“.

Pictures of the NBA champion and his high school crush, Arnetta, started playing. Shaq revealed that he only spoke to her, just as he was about to get drafted. He said that both of them loved each other. Shaq credited Arnetta, for giving him his “first bundle of joy“. However, Shaq confessed that he was still “doing dumb stuff” at that point.

Arnetta currently runs a coaching and wellness consulting firm.

Then, he spoke about his ex-wife Shaunie Henderson. He claimed that she was the “other greatest person” in his life. Shaq knew from the time they started dating that she would eventually become his wife and a mother to his children.

Shaunie recently tied the knot with a Houston-based pastor, Keion Henderson. They had an elaborate destination wedding and Shaunie has been beaming about her new chapter.

Shaquille O’Neal talks about fidelity

In his own podcast, ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq‘, he revealed that he was a “serial cheater“. He said he was not proud of it and is acutely aware that his infidelity had caused him to lose out on valuable time with his children.

Shaquille O’Neal also took accountability for it, when he said on ‘Pivot Podcast‘, that the divorce with Shaunie was on him. “It was all me“, Shaq said and asserted that he wasn’t “protecting those vows“.

Shaq admitted that those two women have since forgiven him for “being a dumb, idiotic brat“. They are all reported to be amicable toward each other. And he seemingly has a good relationship with all his children now as well.
