NBA legend Michael Jordan has not just entertained people by playing on the court but also by acting in movies. His movie ‘Space Jam’, an animated sports comedy film was a huge commercial success. The movie grossed $230 million worldwide in 1996. It revolves around a group of looney toon characters teaming up with Jordan to beat a bunch of aliens who are trying to enslave them.?
With people’s favorite hooper Jordan along with a blend of cartoon characters, the movie was a perfect treat for all age groups. In fact, it turned out to be a proper cult classic. In a 1997 interview with Rosie O’Donnell, Jordan shared with the audience the possibility of his kids starring in the movie.??

At the time of the shooting of the $250 million blockbuster film, Jordan had three kids, Jeffery Jordan, Marcus Jordan, and Jasmine Jordan. The Chicago Bulls superstar shared in the interview, “At first, I thought about putting them in and letting them do their part, but I was really nervous about them being nervous in front of the camera”. Jordan did not want his kids to take the pressure of the Hollywood world at such a young age.?
Jordan added, “So they came to a couple of shoots and Jasmine said ‘Dad I want to play my part now’. It was too late. But she really wanted to do it after she saw it. All three of them wanted to play themselves.” Jordan had to hide his kids from stardom at a young age, although it would have been a great opportunity for all three kids.?
The film also featured an all-star cast of NBA players. The film had Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird, Phoenix Suns legend Charles Barkley, and former Hornets player Muggsy Bogues. Moreover, former Knicks star and favorite rival of Jordan, Patrick Ewing starred in the movie.??

Who acted in Space Jam 2?
‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’, a sequel of the Jordan classic, starring LeBron James came out in 2021. The Los Angeles Lakers forward produced the movie. The movie grossed a total of $163.7 million. Along with the Lakers star, Warriors forward Draymond Green, Lakers center Anthony Davis, and WNBA star Sue Bird and A’ja Wilson starred in the movie.
