NBA Legend Shaquille O?Neal once opened up about his weight loss journey. In fact, the Big Diesel revealed how getting compared to Inside the NBA co-host Charles Barkley motivated him to get serious about his diet and training. In other words, Shaquille O’Neal completely modified his lifestyle to transform his physique.

Shaq is a freak of nature. He stands at 7-foot-1 weighing 305 pounds, with incredible athleticism and freakish strength to go along with it. His body percentage even shocked the great Arnold Schwarzenegger once. However, since he retired, he was getting out of shape. but he did get real about getting back into shape.

Schwarzenegger and Shaq have known each other for some time now. When Arnold met Shaq, he was astonished. In fact, the fact that someone so big could move so fast up and down the court shocked him. And he noted how Shaq was able to maintain his energy throughout the game.

However, Shaq went out of shape after he retired and he even went up to 350 pounds at one point. And he was made of fun by a lot of people and compared to Charles Barkley.

Despite getting raves from Schwarzenegger in the past, Shaquille O’Neal got a little bit tired of people talking about his fitness recently. And Shaq, being Shaq, wanted to do something about it.

“‘Shaq is getting fat.’ I’m getting bigger than Barkley! But criticism doesn’t hurt me,” the Los Angeles Lakers legend told Forbes.

“It’s motivation. I don’t get sensitive,” he added.

And Shaq heard all that chatter and started training intensively to slim down. In addition, the 50-year-old veteran even went on a diet to shed weight. He became so confident with his training regimen that he pledged to remove his shirt at an event where he is playing.

“But I always take comments, read them, and if there’s a tiny ounce of truth in them, I’ll shut you up. I use it as motivation,” the four-time NBA champion later added. “When you say something, I can stop time and see any truth. I was getting fat. I was getting chubby. So I started working out.”?

Furthermore, Shaq also joined as a brand ambassador for the sports nutrition brand Novex Biotech. Subsequently, they released a ‘Shaq Pack’. The 2000 MVP once again showed the world that discipline and will power can move mountains.
