In the famous words of Kevin Garnett, “Anything is possible“. This seemed to be the mantra LSU took as they defied all odds and won their first-ever National Championship. Their win was due to a combination of the efforts of all the stars within the college. In particular, Angel Reese, as she led the way with her confidence and swagger. The 20-year-old made history, did it her own way and managed to inspire many with her display. However, the success couldn’t have come if she didn’t take a huge gamble.

Reese’s first choice was Baltimore for the simple reason of staying closer to home. Growing up outside Baltimore, the Bayou Barbie hails from a family of basketball players. Both her parents played basketball with her father, Michael Reese even playing professionally in Europe. Her younger brother, Julian is currently playing in Maryland colors. A similar journey seemed to be in the destiny of the 2023 NCAA Most Oustanding Player.
As a sophomore, she was the number two prospect in her class. But she wanted more than just to reach the Sweet 16. After spending all her life around Baltimore, Angel Reese would make arguably the biggest decision in her basketball career. The 20-year-old decided to enter the transfer portal to find a new coach who was willing to push her in being a better player.
