Kobe Bryant’s grand gesture for a rookie
The Black Mamba wasn’t just a nickname that Kobe had for himself, it represented a mentality he lived by. His ability to turn things around for the good when it looked like nothing would work set him apart from the herd. Kobe performed such magic on numerous occasions, snatching victory for his team in difficult situations.
This quality of his instilled fear in the opponent’s minds, so much so that guarding the Mamba was a task only a few wished to take up. In one such instance, a rookie rose to the occasion for the Houston Rockets. The effort was not just acknowledged, but the late legend marked the day with a grand gesture.
Chandler Parsons of the Rockets was in his early days in the NBA when he had to guard the Lakers legend. Parsons came through with the assigned work and managed to win the respect of Kobe in the process.
After the game, Parsons received a text from the man himself saying “You?re all set at Supper Club.” Yes, he got an invitation from Bryant himself to the Supper Club!
Parsons explained as “Supper club was the club where the tables were beds. It was awesome.” Safe to say that it set the rookie and his friends for the night courtesy of the GOAT himself.
