The Georgia Football fraternity’s national championship victory soon turned into a disaster on Sunday. A terrible car crash led to the death of a young Bulldogs team member and a football recruiting analyst. After the resounding 65-7 victory against the TCU Horned Frogs, Georgia celebrated their consecutive championship victory with a memorable parade and ceremony. However, the celebrations soon turned into mourning after the terrible accident. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs football team’s offensive lineman Devin Willock and a football recruitment analyst Chandler Lecroy passed away in Athens, Georgia. Recently, NBA analyst Charles Barkley mourned the horrific loss for the Georgia football community during the recent iteration of The Steam Room podcast.

Charles Barkley gave his condolences to the Georgia football program after the terrible incident that led to the death of two young talents and injured a few others. He seemed to be extremely saddened by the unimaginable loss to the nation’s sporting community.

Charles Barkley mourns a huge loss to Georgia football

In a recent episode of The Steam Room podcast, Charles Barkley stated, “I saw the young lady and the young man get killed in a car accident man, and just, ah man. I just, you know, you just never know, uh brutal. Young, never got a chance to live their lives. Coming off of celebrating a back-to-back national championship and that’s how quickly life can change.” 

The 11-time All-Star added, “And, just wanna give my condolences to Kirby and the family of the young man and the young lady and the Bulldog nation man. It’s just a tough one.” Barkley seemed to be taken aback by the untimely death of Willock and LeCroy.

In addition, the co-host Tim Kiely also acknowledged that it was a terrible loss. In the meantime, the Athens police department revealed some exclusive details of the incident. The tragedy happened at approximately 2:45 AM early Sunday morning on January 15.

Athens police reveals how the terrible incident transpired

As per a statement from Athens police, the accident happened after the car driven by LeCroy went off the road. The vehicle bashed into two power soles and some trees, causing fatal injuries to the passengers.

Apart from Willock and LeCroy, Bulldogs’ offensive lineman, Warren McLendon was also present in the vehicle. However, fortunately, the young football star survived, unlike Devin Willock, who died on the scene. Meanwhile, Chandler LeCroy died at the hospital following severe injuries.

Thus, the sporting community in America has suffered a huge setback after a horrible car accident that led to the loss of two young and talented humans.
