NBA superstar LeBron James has a peculiar relationship with his hometown, Cleveland. The Cavaliers selected their hometown boy as the #1 pick of the 2003 NBA draft. There was a lot of hype around James who was coming straight from high school. He was dubbed the ‘Chosen One’ as many expected him to emulate the all-time great Michael Jordan. Cleveland had been longing for a title for many years and he was expected to deliver it. But the expectations of thousands of fans did not wither the young boy.

James hit the ground running in the NBA and looked like the superstar people expected him to be. Soon, he became the face of the team and even the league. In other words, LeBron James started dominating the league with his athleticism and skill. No one has seen someone as tall as him move as quickly. And his opponents had a torrid time playing against. He was considered a freak of nature.

Furthermore, he was equally good on the defensive end. And he eventually became the leader of the Cavs and led them to the playoffs. In addition, he won the NBA MVP award for two straight seasons in 2009 and 2010.

After winning two MVP awards, James was the top star in the league. But because of the team’s inability to support him, there were rumors about him moving to a different team. However, before the 2010 free agency, James assured that he has no reason to move during an interview with Stephen A. Smith.

James said, “I’ve always gone out and stated the fact that I love being in Cleveland. My friends and family. I grew up here. Every night I go on the basketball court I showcase that to those fans. I’ve never had any reason to leave. And you know I’ve been you know happy with my 6-year career since I’ve been there.”?

Despite this, James left the Cavs and joined the Miami Heat that year. Furthermore, the announcement could not have been any worse. And the team was left in a dire situation. This angered a lot of fans who showed it by burning his jerseys.
