Charles Barkley is one of the most loved and respected NBA analysts currently out there. Part of the ?Inside The NBA? crew, Barkley is the other half of the dynamic duo with Shaquille O?Neal which tends to bring in a large number of viewers every night. Barkley has been retired from the league for about 23 years now and hasn?t played basketball since. Though, when asked if he could still play, Barkley came up with one of the most heartfelt answers.

Four years ago, NBA legend Charles Barkley appeared on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’. Kimmel asked Chuck when was the last time he played basketball and the 76ers legend told him it was the day he retired, which was 18 years ago then.

Charles Barkley?s response of not having played basketball in so long compelled Kimmel to ask him whether he loved the game. Barkley made sure to pour his heart out for the game that gave him so much in life.

?Sir Charles? mentioned how he owes the game of basketball everything since the game gave him everything he has in life so far. He mentioned that he was still a freshman despite going to college for three years.

What baffled Jimmy was how Barkley never picked up basketball ever again and just gave up on it. The 11-time All-Star replied by saying, ?You retire because your body can?t take that abuse anymore.?

?I?ve got two new hips now, you see I?ve lost a lot of weight since the last time. I?m down about 50 pounds, about 25 more to go. But I?ve got two new hips now, now I can move Jimmy. I might come back,? added Barkley while joking with Kimmel in the end.

Jimmy Kimmel met a humble Charles

The two went on to discuss whether Barkley could beat any current NBA player who is in the league right now. Number 34 made sure to answer that question which as much humbleness as he could.

Barkley said, ?No, they?re all good players. Some are not really good but they?re good players. Ah, no, I can?t beat any of the guys.? Kimmel and the crowd in attendance laughed it off as Barkley admitted where anyone else would?ve chosen to brag about themselves.

The host also brought up the fact that despite being a freshman, Auburn University still erected a statue of Barkley on their campus. Not only that, but the Auburn Tigers also retired the number 34 in his honor.
