Dwyane Wade spoke with ‘CBS Mornings’ co-host Gayle King about his new photographic memoir, ‘Dwyane‘, which covers his life on and off the court. In the segment, he talked about his life growing up, his motivation, his marriage, and much more. He also mentioned how Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan motivated him to keep pushing and working hard towards his dream.

Dwyane Wade credits Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls
‘The Flash’ credited?Chicago Bulls?legend and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan when asked about his motivation and drive to work hard despite the few chances. “I couldn’t look at someone in my family and say, ‘That’s what I want to do’, or someone in my community and say, ‘That’s who I want to be’, so I had to go and find someone else, and it was Michael Jordan, it was the Chicago Bulls, and it was sports”.
Wade talked about his struggles growing up in a crime-filled neighborhood and how it was difficult for him to play basketball. According to him, everyone around him would tell him that the chances of making it to the NBA were “one in a million”?and that he wouldn’t make it. Because of all the naysayers, he would find it difficult to be motivated and find inspiration on his own.
But Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls would inspire him. They were responsible for igniting the fire inside and pushing him towards greatness. He mentioned that he had no role models or guiding light. Sports and basketball helped him pave the way.?
Wade teams up with Shaq in Miami
Dwyane Wade was drafted fifth overall in the 2003 NBA draft by the Miami Heat. After the fallout between Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal at the Los Angeles Lakers, Shaq signed with the Heat in 2004. The duo of Shaq and Wade would bring a title to the Heat nation in 2006. Wade would go on to win the Finals MVP that year.

‘The Flash’ would add two more championships to his name when LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Miami Heat in 2011. Wade had been the face of the franchise for more than a decade.
