Michael Jordan is considered by many to be the greatest basketball player of all time. He played for the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards. Jordan retired from the NBA in 2003 at 40. Since his retirement, Jordan has earned more money than he did while playing. He was the first NBA player to become a billionaire. Being a billionaire, he owns the NBA team Charlotte Hornets and is part of countless other successful business ventures. But this didn’t prevent him from getting banned from a Miami Country Club.

Michael Jordan gets banned from a golf club for life

Michael Jordan’s passion for golf needs little introduction. Jordan fell in love with golf because it was very competitive and the most challenging game to play. “I kind of got into golf mainly because from a competitive standpoint to me, it is the hardest game to play.” But Jordan hasn’t been able to dominate in golf as he did in basketball. But he is still an ardent follower of the game and spends millions on membership fees and other expenses required to play golf at an elite level.

Jordan was once part of the La Gorce Country Club in Miami. It is one of the most exclusive golf clubs in all of Florida. MJ was a member of the invite-only club but was kicked out and banned from the club for life in 2012.

The incident which got the 6x NBA champion banned from the club was centered on the wardrobe rules of the club and not some controversial scandal.

Jordan used to wear cargo pants and play in the club; he had been doing this for a long time. No one from the club had approached him before the incident and asked him to change his attire. But on one particular day, a club official came up to Jordan and asked him to change into a pair of Bermuda shorts; according to the club’s rules, golfers were required to wear collared shirts and Bermuda shorts. MJ was in the middle of the 12th hole; being the uber-competitive and prideful individual he was, he refused to change.
