Kevin Durant once described his relationship with Westbrook in an interview
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were once part of one of the most exciting franchises in the NBA. Playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the two basketball sensations were destined for great things.
Naturally, they developed a good relationship both on and off the court. This was evident when Durant described their relationship during an interview in 2015.
Durant said, while mentioning the fact that he saved Westbrook for the very last in his MVP speech in 2014, “I fucked with him a little bit on that.”
“I know you guys think I forgot Russ. But I could speak all night about Russell. An emotional guy who will run through a wall for me,” KD had said in his MVP speech.
A few years later, KD made some similar comments. He revealed how he believed Russell Westbrook would come and check on him if he were in his death bed.
Interestingly enough, these comments were made before a game between the Golden State Warriors and the Thunder. During the match, the two went face-to-face and the other players had to intervene in order to break them up.
Durant bashed all the unfair Westbrook critics
Following his blockbuster move to the Los Angeles Lakers, Russell Westbrook has been bashed by fans and experts all around the world.
The team had a horrible 2021-22 season and they do not have the best of starts this season either. Westbrook has often been accused of being the root of the problem at the Lakers.
Talking about all the hate Westbrook is receiving, Durant said, “I understand that there’s certain points where you don’t play well and you are open to criticism when you don’t play well, we get that. But it’s like now you’re making him the butt of your jokes.”
