Lou Williams reveals how Kobe Bryant locked down Stephen Curry

On the Knuckleheads podcast, Quentin Richards and Darius Miles invited Lou Williams. Lou talked about his time with Kobe in the Lakers before he retired. He shared how Kobe found one weakness in Stephen Curry?s game when he was tremendously on song. Lou said that when they were playing against the Warriors once, Curry was starting to catch fire and was cooking them. But Bryant suddenly started saying that he found something.?

Williams said, ?He [Kobe] just came in and said, ?I f****** found it!? He just kept saying, ?I f****** found it!? So we kinda looking at him. He like [Kobe said], ?He [Steph] don?t like people standing on the side of him. He can shoot with you in front of him, he can shoot with you behind him but on his side, he don?t like that. Imma guard him in the second half.? [Kobe] Shut him [Steph] down again.??

Head to head, this was the reason why Kobe outshined Steph. In 15 games played between the Lakers and the Warriors in the regular season, Kobe averaged 26.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. Whereas Steph was second best, with an average of 22.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assets. In 15 meetings, the Lakers won 9 whereas the Warriors won 6. Kobe?s best performance in the fixture was a triple-double of 44 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Evidently, Kobe knew to stop Steph. But Steph being Steph also had unstoppable games. His best against Bryant was 47 points, 8 rebounds, and 15 assists. Whenever the two played against each other, it was truly a clash of two champions. It was a fiery battle to behold.
