As per the reports that emerged earlier this week, Michael Jordan might be selling his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets. The news prompted Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd to take a closer look at Jordan’s career and legacy. Cowherd didn’t hold back in his criticism of the six-time NBA champion, calling him a “selfish guy” and discussing his failed attempts at baseball, franchise ownership, and coaching. In response, ex-NFL star Marcellus Wiley recently reacted to Cowherd?s statement.?

With the release of the Ben Affleck film ?Air?, Jordan has been at the top of headlines the entire week. In addition, Jordan’s ownership of the Charlotte Hornets has been marked by mixed success. While he has been successful in increasing the team’s value and popularity, the Hornets have only made the playoffs three times since he became the majority owner in 2010.

Colin Cowherd’s comments were not limited to Jordan’s tenure as an owner of the Hornets. He delved into various aspects of Jordan’s career and stated that, without Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson, the Michael Jordan mythology is somewhat overblown. The 59-year-old’s most pointed critique was aimed at Jordan’s personality, stating that he is a “bit of a selfish guy” and not great at building community, but rather at building wealth for himself.?Cowherd’s criticisms of Jordan’s ownership tenure are not new, but they are notable given the news of Jordan’s potential sale of the team.
