A young Rodman was one of the best defenders for the Pistons at the time. He won the Defensive Player of the Year for two straight years in 1990 and 1991. However, MJ finally broke through and beat the Pistons to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time in his career in 1991. And he won the title that year. He then achieved a three-peat with the Bulls from 1991 to 1993.
While the Bulls started dominating, the Pistons started to rebuild. They parted ways with head coach Chuck Daly in 1992 who was a father figure to Rodman. So he felt like the Pistons betrayed him. A year later, the ‘Worm’ left the Pistons to join the San Antonio Spurs.
Michael Jordan went looking for Rodman
After two seasons with the Spurs, Rodman joined the Bulls when Michael Jordan came back from his first retirement in 1995. MJ and the Bulls knew about Rodman’s lifestyle off the court. But they were not worried about it as long as he performed on the hardwood. And he did. But in 1997, Rodman went to Las Vegas and did not return to practice for days. At the time, he was in a relationship with actress Carmen Electra.

However, the unannounced arrival of Michael Jordan compelled Carmen Electra to hide herself. Talking about it, Electra said, “There’s a knock on the door. It’s Michael Jordan. And I hid. I didn’t want him to see me like that. So I’m like hiding behind the couch with the covers over me.”
