The Golden State Warriors‘ 2022 title win gave them a second wind. The unexpected championship snapped the franchise out of a disappointing slump of seasons. Videos and images of Stephen Curry breaking down after clinching the championship went viral. Unfortunately, on the other hand, the Boston Celtics faced a numbing defeat despite their best efforts. Apparently, the defeat had a serious impact on Jayson Tatum.

After his team succumbed to a 4-2 series loss on their home court, Tatum was not in a good headspace. The media’s attention panned toward the champions while the 6 ‘8” star’s suffering days went unnoticed.

Most NBA fans remember the 2021-22 season as a redemption story for the Warriors and their superstar Stephen Curry. After failing to even qualify for the postseason for two straight years, the hoops community started questioning Chef Curry’s dominance in the league. Fortunately, the following season’s victory returned the Warriors’ lost glory. On the other hand, the Celtics’ defeat created an adverse impact on Jayson Tatum.

In a recent interview with Slamonline.com, Tatum opened up about his excruciating experience after the 2022 Finals loss.

He explained how the loss took a lot of days just to sink in with reality. He said, “How mentally and physically exhausting the season was…  you don’t want to be seen, you don’t want to talk to anybody.” Then, he added, “When I got home, I didn’t even want to eat.”

What does the Celtics’ future look like?

In the 2021-22 season, the Celtics finished second in the Eastern Conference with a 51-31 record. Their off-season trade for Malcolm Brogdon made the NBA world consider Tatum’s team the favorite to win it all. Of course, now it has been two seasons since the trade, and Boston has made some more moves to hopefully win it all.

After two frustrating exits in the playoffs, the Celtics look at the upcoming season with a slight difference in their side. The franchise traded out their marquee guard, Marcus Smart, in the offseason. Fans doubt if the Tatum-Brown duo would miss Smart’s support in the next season.
