Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are among the most prolific NBA duos of all time. The Chicago Bulls were the most successful dynasty in the late 1990s. And much of the credit goes to the dynamic between this pair. Pippen and MJ grew close together as they rose Chicago to a city full of championships. However, even after six NBA titles together, the duo went through a rough patch.

‘The Last Dance’ took a journey through the Bulls’ iconic last season. Jordan and co. had formed a winning culture. To this day, those Bulls undoubtedly go down as one of the most dominant dynasties in basketball. However, the docuseries revolved around one man, Michael Jordan. Likewise, it brought upset to many of his former peers. Pippen was the most vocal of them all.

During an interview, fellow Bulls teammate Dennis Rodman offered his view on the situation. The five-time NBA champion revealed how $10 million ruined the relationship between Pippen and Jordan.

Why Scottie Pippen went off on Michael Jordan

‘The Last Dance’ covered the fracturing Chicago Bulls franchise in their last season of glory. However, it broke up the most important relationship in the history of the franchise. As soon as Pippen got a glimpse of the docuseries, he was livid. The six-time champion believed the entire series was about glorifying Jordan rather than about the time.

As for Rodman, he claims Pippen wanted the recognition. Likewise, he blamed MJ for making $10 million dollars as the biggest reason for their conflict. The Worm said: “Scottie is so hurt because he wanted that recognition with Michael. Because he grew up with Mike and the whole 11 years they played together with each other. He wanted the fact that Michael got $10 million for that documentary and he got nothing. I didn’t care about getting sh*t.”

Pippen reportedly missed out big time on the money that MJ made through the docuseries. However, he was truly upset about his portrayal in ‘The Last Dance’. He put the blame on Jordan’s head claiming he had the creative control. But the NBA Hall of Famer wanted to get his side out to the world. Likewise, in his book “Unguarded”, Pippen went off about his teammate.

Going after Michael Jordan, he went on to say his best teammate ruined the game. Pippen even went on to call His Airness selfish. Saying he wanted all the work done for him while taking the spotlight. The world watched as one of the most historic duos was falling apart years after moving away from the game.
