Stephen Curry is one of the most decorated NBA superstars of all time. While he has established himself as one of the all-time greats in league history, he wasn’t even expected to be a successful NBA player at one point. His journey to superstardom is second to none. Curry was the subject of a documentary, ‘Stephen Curry: Underrated’ which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The documentary covers his improbable rise from a guard at Davidson to the superstar who changed the game of basketball forever. While the occasion showcased the rise of Curry, he used this platform to assure fans that he wasn’t done.
PARK CITY, Utah _ I asked the first question after the premiere of “Stephen Curry: Underrated” at #Sundance. My question: “Mr. Curry, after you entered the NBA, when did you know that you were STEPHEN CURRY … and when did you start to gain weight? His answer: pic.twitter.com/BdFIFsQc2v

The Golden State Warriors star was asked a series of questions after the premiere. Rochelle Riley, Director of Arts and Culture for the City of Detroit, asked Curry when did he realize his real potential. The 2x NBA MVP answered sarcastically, “Probably around 2 years ago“. He continued, “I feel like I can always get better. I might be, sometimes, stubborn and naive to think that but even as I stand here today I feel like I can still reach another level. I can still keep refining the craft, I can still become better off the court.”
Curry revealed that even though he has been under the limelight more often than not, he doesn’t let that affect him. He also hoped to add to the already long list of accomplishments he has in the future.

Curry was the talk of the town on Monday at Park City as his documentary received multiple standing ovations, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film covers behind-the-scenes moments from Curry’s historic career. From Davidson’s fairytale run during the 2008 March Madness to the Warriors’ win in the 2022 NBA Finals, it offers a glimpse into Curry’s personal life as he juggles the demands of a superstar career with fulfilling a promise he made to his mother when he left Davidson early in favor of a career in the NBA that he would eventually get his college degree.
Curry found the whole experience surreal. It was one of the moments where he could reflect on the historic journey he’s been on. It doesn’t look like Curry will be stopping anytime soon though. He has his eyes set on another championship but it might prove to be difficult considering the current state of the Warriors.
