Well, fans now know Shaunie’s love for McDonald’s and their decades-old fish recipe that was first created in the 1960s for a very good reason.

Why was Filet-O-Fish made in the first place?

McDonald’s is widely popular for its burgers, fried, and McNuggets. However, during the 1960s, the billion-dollar worth fast food restaurant chain decided to include a fish-based snack in its menu. The decision was made when it saw a significant dip in the sale of non-vegetarian items. This happened mostly in Catholic-dominated as they didn’t eat non-veg, other than fish, on Fridays.

Therefore, McDonald’s came up with a new recipe specifically made for Catholics. Since then, Filet-O-Fish has remained a part of the menu. Given that Pastor Keion and his wife Shaunie are both church-goers, it might be safe to assume that their fondness for the fish-based snack is not just due to taste but for convenience as well.
