There was a time that the now Brooklyn Nets’ superstar, Kevin Durant, was a superstar for the Texas Longhorns. And even 14 years later, he was able to predict that Charli Collier, who was part of the Longhorns too, will make it to the WNBA as the first overall pick. He couldn’t have been more right as just a few hours later, the Dallas Wings added her to the roster as the first pick.
Dallas even had the second overall pick, with which they also selected Awak Kuier, who is from Finland. 6’5″ Collier averaged 20.9 points along with 12.2 rebounds per game during her three long years with the Longhorns. However, height isn’t the only advantage the Collier brings to the court.
From her boxout-jump rebound skills to moving without the ball, she shows promise on both ends of the floor. She also has the ability to tackle the defender guarding her with her incredible footwork. Although the 21-year-old does need some work shooting from the arc, she showed the immense potential that landed her as the top prospect for the Draft.

What could be more brilliant when one of the best NBA players in the league sees your potential and roots for you? In fact, Kevin Durant and Charli seem to be tight with one another. She even had a lot to say about the Brooklyn Nets star in a recent interview.
Charli Callier is in awe of Kevin Durant
Right after KD openly posted about his prediction and it came accurately, the two actually spoke on FaceTime as well. He was also a part of her podcast, and she got a chance to interact with him on a personal level.

So, when asked about her experience talking to Durant, she stated, “He is such a humble person. We see a lot of NBA players in a negative light. But I feel like once you sit down and get to know a person, you get to know a lot about them and what they feel about the women’s game.
“And I know he said a lot of positive things about us in general. Just how he thinks, how he operates, and what he does outside of basketball. So, it was just a great learning experience for me,” she concluded.
