Michael Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players to ever step on that court. His journey to the top started in 1984 when the Chicago Bulls drafted a 21-year-old kid as their 3rd overall pick. Little did they know at the time that he would turn out to be the most important draft pick in their history.?

MJ made his debut in 1984 and ever since his debut he was one of the best players in the league. In the first season itself, he became an important part of the Bulls roster. At the age of 21, he played and started all 82 matches for Chicago and had a sparkling first season averaging 28.2 points per game.

His rise to fame and success was imminent. It was evident that he will make it big sooner rather than later. Exactly what he did. Arguably the GOAT of the game has won it all. Multiple records, multiple awards, multiple NBA championships. The achievements are countless. Although MJ had grabbed everyone?s attention and respect pretty early in his career, he had to wait for a few years to grab his first NBA championship.

Michael Jordan wins his first NBA championship – 1991

Almost 7 years after making his debut, MJ won his first NBA championships at the age of 28. The Chicago Bulls won the 7 game series against the LA Lakers and were crowned champions on June 12, 1991. The MVP winner of the season, Michael Jordan also won the finals MVP award for his spectacular display in the 5 game series. MJ averaged 31.2 points, 11.4 assists, 6.6 rebounds. The Chicago Bulls defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 as Michael Jordan emerged victorious against Magic Johnson.

Michael Jordan had won the MVP once before 1991 in 1988 but the Bulls were eliminated by the Detroit Pistons in the conference semifinals that year. Similarly the Pistons also won against the Bulls in 1990 in the conference finals. But in 1991, it was MJ?s inspired season and exceptional finals performance that earned both MJ and the Bulls their first NBA championship. This was only the start of the legacy MJ was going to create. MJ went on to win 5 more NBA championships in that decade making the league his own in the 90s.

The Legacy of Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan won 6 NBA championships in a decade. MJ and the Chicago Bulls won the three-peat twice. 1991-1993 and 1996-1998. In fact due to many reasons, Michael Jordan took an early retirement after the first three-peat. He played in the MLB(Major League Baseball) for the 1993-1994 season. However he returned to the NBA the very next season and had to wait just one season(1994-1995) before he won his second three-peat.?

Looking closely, MJ won 6 NBA championships in 9 seasons in the 90s. It is staggering that he won the 6 finals MVP award for all 6 NBA titles. It is easily evident that his impact on the Bulls success was absolutely astonishing.?

Now the richest athlete in the world, Michael Jordan absolutely dominated the NBA after his first NBA championship winning everything the league had to offer more times than one can aim for.
