Michael Jordan wins his first NBA championship – 1991

Almost 7 years after making his debut, MJ won his first NBA championships at the age of 28. The Chicago Bulls won the 7 game series against the LA Lakers and were crowned champions on June 12, 1991. The MVP winner of the season, Michael Jordan also won the finals MVP award for his spectacular display in the 5 game series. MJ averaged 31.2 points, 11.4 assists, 6.6 rebounds. The Chicago Bulls defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 as Michael Jordan emerged victorious against Magic Johnson.

Michael Jordan had won the MVP once before 1991 in 1988 but the Bulls were eliminated by the Detroit Pistons in the conference semifinals that year.
