James Harden has not signed an extension with the Brooklyn Nets making his future uncertain. There have been numerous speculations on how James Harden wants to leave New York. On the other hand, there have been many reports stating the complete opposite.
Amidst these speculations by fans and analysts, one stands out. A majority of the NBA community heavily believes that Harden has a potential future with the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden has pre-existing relationships with Daryl Morey and Mark Rubin. They happen to be the President and part-owner of the franchise, respectively.
However, in the middle of these rumors, his previous team has extended an offer. The Houston Rockets have clearly told Harden that he can join the franchise again if he wishes to. The Houston Rockets acquired Harden in 2012 from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

James Harden and the Houston Rockets
Harden has always been an exceptional player. After making his debut with Thunders, he reached his peak while playing for the Rockets. He improved his shooting and perfected the step-back three-pointer. Some would say that is his signature move.
For his entire 8 year career in the Rockets, Harden carried that team on his back. Rockets made the playoffs every season when Harden was playing for them. However, they never won a championship. Harden was extremely important in how fans viewed the Rockets franchise.

James Harden became the player he is due to the stardom he got at Rockets. Rockets had no star player other than Harden. They had Christ Paul briefly but that did not last.
The Houston-based team focused exclusively on James Harden and expended all assets to help him achieve his prime. The report of welcoming back Harden to the Rockets seems like a move made out of nostalgia. However, it is extremely unlikely to happen.
