A member of the feminist protest and performance art group Pussy Riot recently revealed unknown details on the Brittney Griner case. Nadya Tolokonnikova recently talked about her time in the penal colony that Griner has reportedly been moved to. Nadya shared details of life in the isolated location for prisoners. From forced labor to daily torture, she left nothing uncovered during an interview with MSNBC.

WNBA star Brittney Griner is said to be currently serving her nine-year prison sentence in a penal colony called IK-2 Mordovia. Nadya Tolokonnikova had previously spent two years in a penal colony. She stated that the penal colony in Mordovia is “literally the harshest colony”.?She said prisoners would allegedly be made to work 17 hours a day, without a single day off. Tolokonnikova added that prisoners would get punished by authorities in case they couldn’t perform their tasks properly. Furthermore, medical facilities are reportedly non-existent. Tolokonnikova also said that the medical authorities deliberately remained oblivious to the prisoners’ health issues.

“What I would be really scared of is Brittney hiding the fact that she is being heavily repressed in this penal colony. Because that’s what happened with me,” stated Nadya.

According to Nadya, the prison authorities told to her remain quiet about the harsh treatment she faced. She added that if she didn’t comply, then the other prisoners in the colony would suffer because of her.

Days after the reports of Brittney Griner’s transfer to the penal colony went public, several ex-inmates came forth to share their experiences. Fellow Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina earlier compared the prison to a gulag.?

Evidently, fans are very worried about Brittney Griner and the condition she is currently in. Several fans have come forth to demand her freedom and express their concerns.

The US government is reportedly working on negotiations with the Russian government. Earlier, American officials had offered a prisoner exchange program to Russia. The inmate swap included convicted Russian arms dealer Victor Bout, currently incarcerated in the US, in exchange for Griner and another US citizen currently in prison in Russia, Paul Whelan.

?I want to hope that the prospect not only remains but is being strengthened. And that the moment will come when we will get a concrete agreement,? said Sergei Ryabkov, the Russian deputy foreign minister.
