For Durant, the Warriors will likely always be family. In his words, their success is his success because he is “part of that history forever”. The two-time champion left the Golden State Warriors in 2019. The common dialogue then was that the Warriors would never win another championship without the expertise of Durant. However, in 2021-22, this proved to be wrong. The title win brought about a new narrative that claimed that Durant depended on the Warriors, instead of it being the other way around. Durant was seemingly unhappy because the Warriors’ win became all about him. He said, “I feel like you can take it all in and appreciate what they did and not even talk about me”. While speaking in an interview with the Washington Post, the 12-time NBA All-Star made another claim.
