The 38-year-old star is none other than Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul. In his 18-season-long career, he has never reached the NBA Finals. Instead of pointing fingers at his game, fans often highlight his bad luck and injury woes in the Playoffs. Notably, the 2022-23 season favorites Suns succumbed in the semis this year too and Paul missed several games in the postseason due to injury.

On the recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Chris Paul discussed various aspects of his balling and especially the harrowing experience from his childhood. The host, Pat McAfee, asked Paul about the general notion about the 38-year-old baller in the sports community as a matured person and his ability to negotiate serious affairs.

He asked, “Do you think you were built for it and how much of that is real?” The Suns guard immediately agreed that the entirety of it was real and stated the reason behind his behavior. He said, “My grandfather murder, I think it forced me to grow up early. It showed me that nothing’s promised, tomorrow’s not promised.”

He further added that losing his grandpa at the age of 17 pushed him to be caregiver and caretaker of the family.
