Ben Simmons was drafted in 2016 by the Philadelphia 76ers. However, last year Philadelphia involved Ben Simmons’ name in trade talks to bring in James Harden. Although trade did not take place at the time, it surely ruptured the relationship between the player and the team. It is very likely to happen that the player and the team stop being on the same page when a team publicly shows the desire to trade off a player. This is exactly what happened with Ben Simmons and the 76ers.
Despite some top performances for the 76ers in his 6 years, the team had a different future planned. Evidently, it included James Harden more than Ben Simmons, as they were willing to trade off Simmons in order to bring in Harden. This eventually did happen after a saga that lasted almost a year.

Ben Simmons might make his debut for the Nets soon
The Ben Simmons and James Harden trade did happen before 10th February in practically the last minutes of the deadline. Simmons was reportedly struggling with mental health issues and wanted the trade at the end. The Nets knew the complications of the trade as they traded out Harden in exchange for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round picks. They knew that Simmons might take his time before making his debut for the team.
But according to Ramona Shelburne on NBA Today, his debut might not be that far.
Ramona Shelburne on NBA Today: "Ben Simmons, from what I'm told, is going to really ramp it up this week and see where he's at. He's getting close. It's going to be more like weeks [away] rather than months."

Nets fans might get to see the trio of Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving in harmony and perform well together as the playoffs are just around the corner.
Fans went berserk on Twitter reacting to the news.
He’s waiting until after March 10th because he’s scared to death to play in Philly

Got a feeling he’s gonna be feeling better after March 10 for some reason
— Sauce Castillo (@SauceCastillo69) February 22, 2022
He’s definitely not playing before March 10th. That much I can tell you.
— Jason DeLisi (@WallacesOwner) February 22, 2022
Yeah like after March 10th he wants no parts of Philly in Philly because he’s soft

Wow mental illness gets cured in a few weeks just by ramping it up. Amazing #fake
— Leonidas (@chrisleo1118) February 22, 2022
He's gonna "REALLY" ramp it up this week LMAO. Again, thanks for trading us Harden for Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first rounders. Never in a million years did we think a HOF'ER could be acquired for so very little.
— LeQuan Glover (@LeQuan_God) February 22, 2022
He should have been ramping since October not playing PlayStation

Few fans did react in kind, realizing that they would much rather see the best of Simmons sooner rather than later.
Yup but we don't have this time
He needs to be on court on february 26th 🙃
— Nets Nation Brasil 🇧🇷 (@BrasilBrooklyn) February 22, 2022
Already been weeks. Needs to be days. Not weeks or months.

Most of the reactions from the fans on Twitter seem to show that they do not think that the issue with Ben Simmons is serious enough to miss this much time. We might never know what someone is going through, even if it may not be that serious to anyone else. Nobody knows for sure. We are yet to see when and how the former 76ers player reacts after he finally makes his debut this season with the Nets. One can only hope that Simmons can get over whatever he is going through and we get to see the talented youngster on the court soon.

Ramona Shelburne on NBA Today also admitted that it was not good for anyone involved in the trade. The three on ESPN NBA Today also talked about how when a player wishes to leave a team it not only sets back the team’s planning for years to come but also damages the fans’ trust.
The opposite in this situation is also true when a team wishes publicly to part ways with a player it often ends in a rift between both parties which is not good for anyone.
