Perkins strikes on Ben Simmons
The vocal Perkins talked about Simmons’ stance on the situation. He then went on a rant about how Simmons could not handle the heat when showered with criticisms.
“He’s scared! And it’s not because of basketball … He’s afraid to face the crowd. He’s afraid to step in that arena and hear those boo’s and [have to] silence the critics,” said Perkins.
The former NBA player went on a passionate rant about how the point guard from Philly was scared to face the fans after his performances during the series against the Atlanta Hawks.
Simmons passed up an opportunity to shoot an easy lay-up, and that sparked problems for the talented player. Most of the fans booed him off, and this did not go well with the player. Hence, Perkins questioned the mentality of the player.
Following that, Perkins even mentioned how Giannis Antetokounmpo was in a similar position with free throws; but with him, the result was different, and it ended with him becoming an NBA champion.

Antetokounmpo silences the crowd
The story of Giannis’ struggles from the free-throw line is well documented. Despite being an unbelievable force on the inside, the Greek Freak couldn’t muster free throws.
Thus, whenever he went to away arenas, the crowd would mock him whenever he came to shoot from the line. They start counting the time he takes to land the shot. On average, it goes up to 10 seconds.

However, Antetokounmpo worked on his craft, and during the ultimate game against the Phoenix Suns, he shot 17-19 free throws shocking pundits and fans in attendance. That’s what Perkins loved about the fellow and believes he is a true warrior in every sense as he landed his first NBA title with the Bucks.
To sum up, many people believe that Ben Simmons’ stance on leaving the franchise may damage the player’s reputation. And that even though players have outstanding technical abilities, mental toughness matters in every sport they play.
