Superstar LeBron James has won four championships so far having played in ten NBA Finals. He has played in a mind-boggling eight straight NBA Finals from 2011 to 2018. However, when it comes to the ‘GOAT’ conversation, some point out James’ losing record in the Finals. Because one of the all-time greats Michael Jordan did not lose a single Finals series. He played in six and won six rings. However, James arguably did not always have a good supporting cast and often willed his team to the Finals.

2018 was one such year when superstar Kyrie Irving left the Cleveland Cavaliers and joined the Boston Celtics. And James almost single-handedly took the team to the Finals. The Cavs had been to the previous three Finals, all against the Golden State Warriors. They won their first-ever title in 2016 but lost the other two. So there was a huge rivalry formed between the two teams.

The former MVP was at his best and arguably at his peak in the 2018 season. He came second in the MVP voting. Even though he has never been injury prone, the 2017-18 season was the only time he played in all 82 regular season games. He was on a mission and he did not care who was in front of him.

LeBron James led the Cavaliers to a fourth-seeded finish in the Eastern Conference. In the first round of playoffs, the Cavs faced a young and energetic Indiana Pacers team. All-Star Victor Oladipo led the Pacers with a great supporting crew. The series was very close as both teams went toe-to-toe with each other. It required seven games to find a winner, and the Cavs eventually came out on top. Recently, Oladipo talked about the series during his appearance on?‘The Old Man and The Three’ podcast. And he gave major props to LeBron James.

“He understood what was needed of him, but I think the most important part is when it was needed, you know what I’m saying. I think that just goes with experience and who he is obviously. I mean he’s not normal,”?Oladipo said. He added, “It was a great experience to go against someone like, that you know what I’m saying. To be matched up like against the best player in the world and going toe-to-toe with him, yeah, that was a different type of drug for sure.”

Interestingly, seven Pacers players averaged over ten points in the series. On the other hand, just two players from the Cavs averaged over ten points. While James averaged 34.4 points and Kevin Love averaged 11.4 points.
The Cavs reached the Finals once again and faced a familiar foe in the Warriors. This time, however, the Warriors were too good and swept the Cavs to win their second straight title.
