The four-time NBA champ shared a reel on his Instagram account featuring Jay-Z’s associate Damon Dash’s take on Kanye West and everything that he had said. The 51-year-old co-founded hip-hop record label Rock-a-fella alongside Jay-Z and Kareem Burke. Dash made an appearance in front of an audience following the screening of his latest movie, “Prince of Detroit” in St. Croix.
Damon Dash opens up about Kanye West’s mental health
Shaquille O’Neal used Damon Dash’s speech to respond to Kanye West after his offensive comments on the Los Angeles Lakers legend and other stars for criticizing Kyrie Irving. Dash claimed that he continues to act as a big brother to Kanye. However, dealing with West has been quite draining for him. Moreover, Dash also criticized the media for giving Ye a platform to express his offensive opinions, despite the knowledge of his mental struggles with bipolar disorder.
Further, Damon Dash stated, “He’s bipolar and people forget that. I don’t care how rich you are. When you have a chemical imbalance you’re gonna say some crazy things. Anybody knows somebody bi-polar? You don’t put them in front of a camera, you put them in a house or a hospital.”

Speaking from personal experience, Dash suggested that people suffering from Bipolar disorder say the most ‘outlandish’ things when they are triggered or tired. He claimed that it was painful to watch Kanye West and had talked to the rapper about his troubles. Moreover, Dash suggested that people should worry about West’s health rather than focusing on what he said. He also seemed frustrated with the people who did not show any concern about the rapper’s mental health.
Incidentally, Ye was diagnosed with his current ailment after being hospitalized for a psychiatric emergency in 2016. Since then, Ye has admitted to having manic episodes and bouts of paranoia and delusions. Therefore, the topic of taking his remarks at face value remains a raging debate in media.
