Last season, the Dallas Mavericks were the biggest come-up. A roster led by Luka Doncic, whose rise has no bounds. Making it all the way to the conference finals, the Mavs have added some serious fuel. A much-needed big man in Christian Wood is making his way to Dallas. However, they also lost one of their biggest contributors to New York. And an analyst believes the Knicks may have overpaid.
Jalen Brunson was one of the most effective players in the postseason. In a series the Mavs didn’t have Luka, Brunson was the hidden gem. He became their light in the time Dallas was dark. Against one of the most elite offenses, Brunson was able to hold his own. Putting up 27.8 points and 4 assists per night, Utah had no answer. Likewise, the NBA world was shocked to see a star take a rise. And being a free agent, his value shot up.

McMenamin feels Knicks paid too much
The Knicks trading for Brunson has made serious noise in the basketball world. With Barrett and Randle both established stars, the Knicks look completely different with Brunson as the primary ball handler. A huge $104 million contract has added pressure on him to deliver. But while he acknowledged his worthy skill, McMenamin thinks the money is just too much.
Despite a playoffs that made him a hot target, Dave can’t see any reason the Knicks offered such an outrageous sum. However, he doesn’t hold any doubt about what Luka’s teammate can bring to the city. He said: “I like it. Actually, I think there was a bit of an overpay Jalen Brunson. But certainly he is a high, high, high level role player verging on being a star type of player.”

The Knicks failed to have a consistent scorer last season. Randle couldn’t follow up his All-Star season. However, a reliable decision-maker changes the entire dynamic of the team. Likewise, the entry of Jalen Brunson fulfills it all. The former Dallas star is able to score on all levels. Apart from his offense, he can control the flow of the game well.
