Interestingly enough, in a recent report by an eminent journalist, it has been revealed that the Timberwolves will do everything in order to keep KAT and offer him a supermax contract. Moreover, KAT needs to fulfill certain criteria that ensures the team offers him a supermax contract worth $230 million.

How can Karl Anthony Towns get a supermax contract?
A supermax deal in the NBA is the largest salaried contract a player can receive. Through this deal, teams may re-sign players they drafted or signed during his rookie deal for a whopping 35% of the team’s salary cap.
There is no doubt Karl Anthony Towns is one of the best players in the league. For this reason, the Minnesota Timberwolves will be looking to keep him for the future. Furthermore, KAT needs to be in the All-NBA team this year, which will make him eligible for the supermax. According to reports, the supermax is worth a whopping $230 million.

Talking about whether KAT deserves that supermax, eminent journalists on the NBA on ESPN debated. They said, ” They’re [Timberwolves] winning to a certain extent because Towns is just powering them. The team wants to present him with a supermax deal and lock him in for a long time.”
Further adding to their point, “They don’t want KAT wanting out. He is two years away from free agency, he gets supermax eligible this summer, he signs that extension and he’s locked in here for a long time.”
With the form he is in currently, getting an All-NBA this season is certainly possible for Karl Anthony Towns. Moreover, the team would be banking on his performances in order to tie him down for the future.
