Shaquille O’Neal is one of the NBA’s biggest superstars. For 19 seasons, the big man dominated the NBA while also claiming 4 championships. Three would come while he was a part of the Los Angeles Lakers. Alongside Kobe Bryant, the duo completed a threepeat against the Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, and the New Jersey Nets. Hence, it is to no one’s surprise that Shaq expressed support for his Lakers amidst a dismal 2021-22 campaign. In fact, he made a bold statement on LeBron James and Co. beating the Phoenix Suns if they finish as the 8th seed at the end of the regular season. This put NBA fans on Twitter in a frenzy.
Fans React to Shaquille O’Neal
During a discussion with Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams on ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq‘, the big man made an interesting claim. He boldly stated that the Lakers can eliminate the Suns if they finish as the 8th seed and make the playoffs via the play-in tournament.
This led to several fans on Twitter agreeing with Shaq’s perspective. Moreover, they agreed that Anthony Davis and LeBron James would form a lethal partnership. Furthermore, some even stated that Russell Westbrook would also have a major impact.
Of course. Healthy Lebron and healthy AD is scary. The league is not ready for that. Westbrook as an X factor is just insane.

Lakers have a bench that doesn’t compare to the Suns.LeBron,AD,Westbrook won’t be able to sustain too many minutes and do it enough to beat PHX 4 https://t.co/GN9ezubwdv way Lakers bench can hold down fort/provide ample support to the Laker “Big 3” vs Suns bench.

Clearly, there appears to be a mixed bag of reactions from the fans. Although many fans believe in the Lakers, there are just as many who don’t think Shaq is right. Regardless, if a Suns’ upset is on the cards, it will definitely leave the NBA in shock!

Shaq With the Lakers
After a fruitless stint with the Orlando Magic, the Lakers acquired Shaq as a free agent signing. They hoped he would bring the franchise back into championship contention, considering he took the Magic to the finals. However, for 4 years, the Lakers could not even get to the finals. But the 1999-00 season saw a turnaround. The hiring of Phil Jackson along with Shaq winning the MVP led to a Lakers championship win that season.

Thereafter, fans would also see Kobe Bryant blossoming into a star. The duo formed a sensational one-two punch as they won 2 more titles in a row. Clearly, the Lakers had conquered the NBA and looked invincible. However, they could not repeat their success. Moreover, Shaq would also leave the franchise to join the Miami Heat, where he would win another title in 2006.
