Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is one of the more renowned players in the NBA. The Serbian national is popular among NBA fans and they commonly refer to him through his nickname “the Joker”. The three-time All NBA star also represents his country Serbia through the national basketball team in international competitions. Jokic won a silver medal with the national team at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Jokic, a regular starter for the Nuggets, recently involved himself in a controversial incident. The 26-year-old brought the heat to a game against the Miami Heat when the referee ejected him out of the game. The scene began with Miami power forward, Markieff Morris elbowing Jokic’s right side to gain possession of the ball. Morris’ foul visibly provoked Jokic as the Serbian retaliated with a violent push, forcing Moris to the floor.
The Nuggets star spoke about the conflict at the post-game conference. He apologized for his reaction to the foul and expressed regret for the subsequent proceedings. “I feel bad,” said Jokic. “It was a stupid play. I’m not supposed to react that way.”
